After growing up as a ballet dancer, Allison started taking Group Fitness classes in her late teenage years. The excitement was captivating and she decided to become an instructor in college. Allison taught a variety of classes for three years at Penn State Campus Recreation. She has done strength, cardio, boxing, Pilates, Barre, HIIT, and dance fitness. Allison joined our North Club team in January 2025.

WOMEN’S WEIGHT LIFTING
Sela’s fitness journey began in 2016, when she was hoping to build confidence, courage, and feel healthy and strong. Since then, she has been a competitor in body building, powerlifting, and strongman competitions. She focuses on proper technique (good form is everything), progressive training, and lifestyle changes rather than quick fixes. Her passion is empowering woman to not be afraid of pushing themselves passed their comfort zone so that they can see what they are truly capable of. Strength is beauty and you are all more powerful than you think!🦋

Mike, a dedicated fitness enthusiast for over 30 years, turned his passion into a career after managing a restaurant until 2005. He specializes in exercise for chronic conditions like osteoporosis, joint replacements, back and shoulder issues, diabetes, obesity, autoimmune diseases, cardiac rehab, neuromuscular disorders, and stroke recovery. With training in core strength, balance, and senior fitness, he’s proud to be part of this thriving club and team.
Rena Van Allen
SILVER SNEAKERS YOGA
Rena has been teaching fitness classes and training clients for about 10 years. She started at a YMCA, where she earned her ACE certification, allowing her to specialize in SilverSneakers and cancer survivor programs. For the past five years, she has been an instructor at North Club. Rena is passionate about teaching that fitness is not just physical—it’s also about mental well-being and social connection. Currently, she is deepening her knowledge of yoga for pain management and incorporates these techniques into her classes.
Nic DiPlacido
INTRO TO WEIGHT LIFTING
Nic has degrees in both physics and education, which helps him to break down strength training into clear, confidence-building steps that make sense for beginners. He is also a 3rd-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and Tang Soo Do, bringing years of movement knowledge and respect for proper form into every class. As a certified personal trainer, his focus is helping you lift safely, feel strong, and enjoy the process - no intimidation, just supportive coaching, good technique, and steady progress.
